Originating from the European techno scene mainly centred around Minimal Techno/Tech House in the former years, it would develop a distinct sound largely detached from the previous trends and become a highly prevalent sub-genre by the late 2010s. While also taking influences from harder, more energetic techno like Acid Techno, peak time techno was largely a shift towards modern, festival-oriented Electronic Dance Music, absorbing features typical to certain Trance, Hard Dance, or even “big room” styles.
