Old School, brief overview of the genre…..
Old School is a very widely used term in the music industry and is therefore very difficult to get everyone to agree on what the genre should represent. Since this category / genre on our website has been introduced and compiled by DJ Theo we asked him to give a brief overview of what you can expect to find in this genre.
As a deejay who started out in 1987 only playing club music, is those days there were probably 4-5 different genre’s unlike today. Most dance music was just referred to as “House” music, so in this section i have compiled the best tracks that dominated the clubs over the years during the period of 1987 – 1996. My plan is to produce complete mixes dedicated to each year ensuring that every mix remains period correct, please note in some of these mixes you will hear the traditional cracks and pops as 90% of this tracks (original versions, no remixes) were only released on vinyl.
